ST AIA-PACK iE2 is designed for in-vitro
Part #: 0025224
Manufacturers:
Estradiol (E2) is a steroid hormone produced and secreted mainly by the ovary (in non-pregnant women), in lesser amounts, by the adrenal cortex (in men and women) and the testes (in men). During pregnancy, the placenta produces most of the circulating E2. The evaluation of E2 plays a very important role in diagnosing disorders of ovarian function or estrogen-producing tumors, because the production and the secretion of E2 reflect ovarian function. The continuous measurement of E2 is also useful to monitor follicle maturation or ovulation induction during infertility treatment. Moreover, E2 is associated with the secretion mechanism of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) through the secretory stimulation and the feedback mechanism of FSH and LH. The measurement of E2 performed simultaneously with the other gonadal steroid hormones, FSH and LH, can provide information to evaluate ovary function.
