Part #: 0025295
Manufacturers:
IgE is an immunoglobulin with a typical four-chain structure comprising two L chains and two H chains. One characteristic of IgE is that it has reagin activity. Allergic reactions that involve IgE include, atopic bronchial asthma, food allergy, allergic rhinitis, anaphylactic shock, urticaria, hay fever and pollinosis, type I anaphylaxis (IgE-mediated allergic reactions). Total serum IgE levels are of value in differentiating the allergic individual from non-allergic patients. Significantly elevated IgE concentrations are reported in allergic rhinitis, extrinsic asthma, urticaria and atopic eczema.
