Tumor Markers

Cancers such as prostate, ovarian and breast cancer arise from uncontrolled cell growth in hormone-sensitive tissues and are often monitored using specific tumor markers. Prostate cancer is commonly evaluated using prostate-specific antigen (PSA), where elevated levels may indicate malignant changes or disease progression. Ovarian cancer is frequently associated with markers like CA-125, which helps in diagnosis, monitoring treatment response and detecting recurrence. Breast cancer expresses markers such as CA 15-3, CA 19-9 and CEA, which assist in tracking disease status.
