Additional Markers


A range of specialized biochemical markers assists in diagnosing and monitoring certain other disorders. Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a key antibody elevated in allergic disorders like asthma, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis and parasitic infections, reflecting hypersensitivity responses. Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) plays a central role in adrenal function and its abnormalities are linked to disorders such as Cushing’s disease, Addison’s disease, etc. Homocysteine, an amino acid associated with cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, where elevated levels indicate increased risk of thrombosis, atherosclerosis, Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency.
