Reproductive Markers
Reproductive hormones are essential chemical messengers that regulate sexual development, fertility, and overall reproductive health. Imbalances in these hormones can lead to various disorders. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) stimulates follicle growth in females and supports sperm production in males. Luteinizing hormone (LH) triggers ovulation in females and promotes testosterone production in males. Estrogen plays a major role in menstrual cycle regulation, bone health, and development of secondary sexual characteristics, while progesterone supports implantation and maintains pregnancy. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is strongly linked to elevated androgens and disrupted FSH–LH balance, resulting in irregular cycles and infertility.
